Nearly one year since Stephon Marbury last played in a regular-season game, signals are getting stronger that the New York Knicks’ outcast will eventually make his comeback with the Boston Celtics.
That still depends largely on Marbury’s ability to negotiate his release from the Knicks after weeks of fruitless and oft-contentious buyout talks, but sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com this week that Boston is Marbury’s preferred destination if he manages to become a free agent and that the Celtics are indeed hopeful of signing him.
Celtics general manager Danny Ainge did not immediately respond to a request for comment on a New Year’s Day holiday for the entire league and has generally refused to address the possibility of signing Marbury. Yet it’s believed that the Celtics’ concerns about their depth, after losing James Posey and P.J. Brown from last season’s title team, have swelled noticeably since they followed up the best 29-game start in NBA history at 27-2 by losing three of the next four games on the road.

I don’t believe this, but hey it’s news and I’m reporting it. Why would Boston, the best team in the NBA, want to introduce a known pathogen into their environment? This makes no sense whatsoever. But hey, stranger things have happened like the Thunder actually winning a game. It happened, I’m as shocked as you.

Don is really getting good at isolating players and creating problems. First it was Baron, then Al Harrington and now one of the only remaining players from the Warriors glorious 2006 playoff run is wanting out. According to ESPN:
Davis is gone. Jackson, according to several sources, recently told teammates he’d happily accept being sent elsewhere. Al Harrington already got his wish to be dealt. Sources also say rookie phenom Anthony Randolph, who some believe has the talent to one day be among the league’s top 10 players, has been told he’s not fitting in and could be dealt. Point guard Marcus Williams is seeking a buyout. Corey Maggette, signed last summer after the loss of Davis, is back in Los Angeles rehabbing a hamstring and one opposing GM said Maggette’s agent is quietly exploring his trade options.
However bad it looks at 8-22, it’s way worse behind the scenes. According to sources, Jackson, Nelson’s staunchest ally in the lockerroom, was called into Nelson’s car when he showed up for the team’s shootaround before facing Orlando. Nelson apparently told Jackson he was playing poorly and Jackson, who had been fighting through injuries to stay on the court, was so upset he skipped the shootaround. Jackson denied any lingering conflict, but he has since decided not to play until his injuries heal.
When are the Warriors going to realize Don Nelson is a locker room serial killer? When are the Warriors going to realize that Don Nelson isolates players and erodes their confidence? These are questions most Warriors fans will continue to ask as the season gruelingly wears on. Don has already disposed of Al Harrington and pushed away the Warriors future by isolating and refusing to play Brandan Wright, Anthony Randolph and Anthony Morrow. These guys are the future of the franchise and instead of seeing them grow, Warriors fans are stuck watching Rob Kurz start and play 30 minutes while Anthony Randolph, a possible future all-star, rots on the bench. Warriors fans have one thing to look forward to: Monta Ellis’s return. Will he stop the bleeding? That’s the one and only bright spot to look forward to for Warriors fans.
Monta Ellis is back with the Golden State Warriors and working toward his return to the court.

Ellis, who has missed the team’s first 21 games after injuring his left ankle in an offseason motorized scooter accident, worked out on an elliptical trainer on the sideline at the team’s practice facility Tuesday afternoon. He has been cleared to work on rehabilitation for conditioning and strengthening to pave the way for his return to the lineup.
After the sideline workout, he walked without a limp to the training room and left the facility without speaking to reporters.

The bottom line is, will this actually help the Warriors? I think not. They’re defensive swiss cheese right now. They coudln’t defend an WNBA team at the moment. Now, keep in mind Jamal Crawford is new and there have been a rash of injuries. It could be that their defensive struggles are chemistry oriented, which is partially true. The real issue though, is there lack of size and strength inside. Other teams, like the Spurs on Saturday, just get to the basket way to easily.
This can only be fixed by trading newly signed Warrior, Corey Maggette. He doesn’t fit. He’s a lackadiasical defender and he’s redundant on the Dubs. They need a guy who can score and also put a body on guys like Amare and Tim Duncan. Without that the Warriors will struggle to win 25 games. Monta will help them offensively though, and make them much more fun to watch. So that’s a plus, but they’ll still suck.

Former NBA basketball player Corie Blount has been charged with picking up 11 pounds of marijuana in southwest Ohio.
Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said after the 39-year-old Blount retrieved the package from a Liberty Township address on Thursday, deputies followed him to his home nearby and arrested him. Jones said officers found another 11 pounds of marijuana inside Blount’s house. Click Here For Full Article
Corie, what the hell are you doing? Man, how insane are you? Who picks up 11 pounds weed from the postal service? Aren’t you just asking to be caught? I mean the guy already had 11 pounds of weed in his house. That’ s a lot of weed. 1 pound is a lot of weed, but 11? But, once we do some math here, we realize he actually was in possession of 22 pounds of weed. Once you hit double digit pounds, you have some problems. But, when you’re in the 20 pound range, well, you might as well call it a day. He’ll be okay in Federal prison though. He’s 6′9, 240. He’ll hold is own, but he just lost 22 pounds of weed. Yeah, no one in the NBA smokes weed. No one. David Stern’s blood pressure just went up 5 points.
*Update: Apparently it was actually a total of 29 pounds. My bad. Big difference I know.

Quoting Mike and Dwayne:
“His ability to carry the ball right now, he’s getting away with that,” Dunleavy said. “He [carries] left to right, right to left, but he just does it fast so nobody sees it, I guess.
Not surprisingly, Wade wasn’t thrilled about the attention, especially considering Dunleavy’s Clippers won last weekend’s game against the Heat. From Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel:
“There’s a lot of things going on that could be called,” Wade said. “So if you want to nitpick at everything, then he doesn’t have enough to do. He needs to do something else.”

Come on Mike, you know Baron does the same thing. All the big name slashers in the league, Iverson, Wade, Baron, they carry. They carry a lot. Complaining about Wade carrying is like that movie Copland. Everyone is corrupt, the guy in Jersey is corrupt, your guy in Brooklyn is corrupt, they’re all corrupt. All NBA players carry a little.
Hey Mike, I have an idea, why don’t you focus on how to dump Kaman and get a solid swing man in there who can eat up some minutes and not cost too much. Oh, and by the way, you’re 3-14. You’re 3-14…shut up and start coaching. All this nonsense just throws more fuel on the “Fire Mike Dunleavy” flame.
