It’s official, Al Harrington sucks. The worst rebounding power forward in NBA history is demanding a trade. Having watched many Warriors games the past few seasons, I can attest to how bad of a defender and rebounder Al Harrington is. This is one of the few times that both the player and team would be better off parting ways. Al Harrington is good for maybe one good game every two weeks where he hits a few shots in a row. He will then disappear and stand around waiting for the ball until the next time he decides to try. Al needs to quiet down and learn the fundamentals. When you’re 6′9, you should be able to rebound better than the opposing team’s shooting guard.
Unfortunately for Al, he thinks he’s better than he actually is. I call it the Ben Gordon Syndrome. The Warriors are now forced to trade him, hopefully to Memphis for Javaris Crittenton or to the Bucks for Ramon Sessions and a smaller salaried player. They could also go after a seasoned point guard with a similar salary like Kirk Hinrich or Jamaal Tinsley. Along with getting rid of a weak PF, the Warriors could potentially shed his bloated salary as well. The Warriors don’t need a soft, 3-point shooting power forward that won’t play D or rebound to save his life. The Warriors need another point guard like a Heroin addict needs a fix. Al Harrington can take his teenage mutant ninja turtle looking ass out of the Bay now.
